Sacked Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS), Martin Kure Abeshi, Thursday finally handed over to a new Acting CG NIS, Muhammed Babandede, a deputy comptroller general, at a service’s headquarters in Abuja.
Babandede was in charge of Operations and Passport Directorate until his appointment. A copy of Abeshi’s sack letter sighted by Vanguard and signed by the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau, indicated that Abeshi was to have handed over to Babandede since Monday.
“I write to notify you that the last day of your service in the Nigeria Immigration Service has lapsed on Sunday 15th May, 2016 in accordance with the extension granted you”, the letter read in part.
When contacted, the NIS Pubic Relations Officer (PRO), Ekpedeme King, confirmed the development: He said, “CGI has retired and handed over to Muhammed Babandede. The new Ag. CGI was in charge of Operations & Passport Directorate”.
