Top Flight Russian Pilot Dies In Crash

A pilot of the Russian air force's elite aerobatic squadron died when the fighter jet he was flying crashed outside Moscow.

Russia's defence ministry confirmed the Su-27 jet went down while returning to its base in Kubinka, west of Moscow. 

Earlier reports that the jet was from the Russian Knights display team - the country's equivalent of the Red Arrows - were confirmed and the pilot was named as team member Sergei Yeryomenko.
