A US start-up has created an earpiece which it claims can live translate conversations in different languages.
The device called Pilot, which will translate between English, French, Spanish and Italian, will launch by the end of this year.
The wearable technology is currently only available for pre-order and is being retailed at a cost of £90 online.
Wavery Labs, the developers of the device, say on their website: "This little wearable uses translation technology to allow two people to speak different languages but still clearly understand each other".
The gadget works using 'translation technology' which will be embedded in an app that will work in conjunction with the earpiece.
A crowdfunding campaign will reportedly be launched for the product on Indiegogo.
Other companies are also exploring this area of technology in real-time.
The Google Translate app can convert what users are saying from one language to another.
Skype can also now translate between callers speaking different languages.
However, direct translation online is not always accurate so it remains to be seen whether this new device and method delivers on its promise.
