Egypt balloon crash at Luxor resort kills tourist

A hot air balloon carrying tourists has crashed near the Egyptian city of Luxor, with one person killed and 15 injured, officials say.

About 20 people were on board when the accident occurred on Friday. The tourist who died was South African.

Report indicates that the Army Command in Maiduguri claimed yesterday to have seriously  wounded  a  Boko Haram factional leader,  Mamman Nur, during artillery and aerial operations in the Lake Chad region.

Deputy Director, Public Relations, Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, Col Onyema Nwachukwu, said  Mamman Nur was wounded   with several of his sub commanders killed, The Nation reports.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte suggested on Friday that Jose Mourinho has "senile dementia" and that the Manchester United manager is still focused on events at Stamford Bridge two years after he was sacked.

President Buhari summons Police Chief over killings across Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris over reported killings in Benue and other communal conflicts in the country and enjoined him to tighten security across the nation.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the closed door meeting with the President, Idris said he updated the president on the efforts of the police towards ensuring law and order in various communities in the country.

Kachikwu declares: Petrol price remains N145 per litre, do not politicise fuel scarcity issue

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, on Friday in Abuja said petrol price remains N145 per litre, pleading that the issue should not be politicised.

Kachikwu, who said this at a news conference, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s stand on the issue was clear, hence, the ministry was working hard to resolve future occurrence of fuel shortages.
