The Dutchman's position has been under scrutiny for weeks but events look to have come to a head, with his alleged bad relationship with his dressing room and unpopularity amongst fans set to see him pushed out regardless of the outcome at Wembley on Saturday.
Negotiations for Mourinho's appointment were apparently finalised weeks ago between his agent Jorge Mendes and United's executive vice-president Ed Woodward, with the ex-Chelsea boss to command a salary of €15 million on a three-year contract.
Part of the conditions Mourinho set included far-ranging powers to overhaul the squad as he sees fit this summer, with AS speculating Barcelona and Real Madrid players are on the Old Trafford side's radar, while Juan Mata is expected to be a casualty.
