KABOOM!!! US Drone strike kills 3 Qaeda suspects in Yemen

A presumed US drone strike in south Yemen on Saturday killed three suspected members of Al-Qaeda, a Yemeni security official said.

The strike targeted a car in which the suspects were travelling in the Rawda region of Shabwa province, according to the official who did not want to be identified.

Tragedy as 24 dead as Kyrgyz landslide engulfs village homes

A landslide engulfed part of a village in Kyrgyzstan on Saturday, killing 24 people, including nine children, the emergencies ministry said.

The earth slip entombed the inhabitants of six houses when it hit the village of Ayu in the Osh region of the mountainous Central Asian country at around 6:40 am (0040 GMT), the emergencies ministry said in a statement.

Nigeria - A Federal Road Safety Corps patrol team has intercepted three suspected child traffickers with 17 minors in Kaduna.

The corps said a male driver of a Ford Galaxy mini-bus, and two others, including a woman, were arrested and handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.

Police arrest 6 suspects over assassination attempt on Melaye

Nigeria - The police on Saturday said they had arrested six suspects in connection with an assassination attempt on Sen. Dino Melaye in his home in Kogi on April 15.

The Force Spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, told newsmen in Abuja that the arrested suspects included a Kogi local government sole administrator and his orderly.

Bayern Munich were crowned Bundesliga champions for the fifth straight season on Saturday after Robert Lewandowski scored twice in their 6-0 thrashing of 10-man Wolfsburg on Saturday.

After second-placed RB Leipzig had earlier been held to a goalless draw by Ingolstadt, Bayern wrapped up the title as victory at Wolfsburg left them ten points clear with three games left.

“Five times in a row, that’s unbelievable. We completely deserve to be champions,” Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Sky after the club secured their 27th league title.

Turkey has blocked all access inside the country to the online encyclopaedia Wikipedia.

Officials said “an administrative measure” had been taken, but gave no reason why.

Turkish media said authorities had asked Wikipedia to remove content by writers “supporting terror”.

Lai Mohammed affirms that Nigeria will come out of recession in June 2017

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said on Saturday that  Nigeria was gradually moving out of recession.

Mohammed, represented by the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Bayo Onanuga, made the assertion at the biennial convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Lagos.

He said that going by a recent statement by the Central Bank Governor, the country would exit recession by the end of June.

Katsina's Shehu Sani calls on President Buhari to resign

Nigeria - The Chairman of the Katsina State Chapter of National Conscience Party, NCP, Abdulmumini Shehu Sani, and a resident of Katsina State has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign and attend to his health issues.

Speaking in the state, Sani said Buhari cannot hold Nigerians to ransom with his health condition as there were other people better positioned to lead Nigeria.

He noted that those playing with the health condition of the President were only bent on destroying the nation and the President himself.
