President Buhari tells APC Governors: Give me time to decide over 2019 rerun
Nigeria - President Muhammadu Buhari has asked APC governors for time to consider and make a decision about running for reelection in 2019.
The President indicated this Thursday night after a two-hour meeting held at the First Lady Conference Room of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

South Africa’s top court reinstates 24-year prison sentence for Henry Okah over terror attacks
Nigeria - South Africa’s top court on Friday reinstated a 24-year prison sentence for a Nigerian oil militant convicted of a series of terror attacks in his home country eight years ago.
Henry Okah was jailed in 2013 for masterminding a number of attacks, including twin bombings which killed 12 people in the Nigerian capital Abuja during independence day celebrations in 2010.

GLOBAL SCARE as death toll from Listeriosis in South Africa jumps to 172
Listeriosis in South Africa has killed 172 people since the start of last year, officials said Thursday, as the country struggles to contain the world’s largest reported outbreak of the disease.
Listeriosis is caused by a natural bacteria found in soil, water, vegetation and animal faeces, and can contaminate food especially meat, dairy, seafood and fresh produce.

Baffled doctors quarantine 14-year-old boy who laid 20 eggs in two years
Doctors in Indonesia are baffled by the medical condition of a teenager who had allegedly been laying eggs since 2016.
According to a DailyMail report, 14-year-old Akmal from Gowa in the Asian country claimed to have laid some 20 eggs in the past two years.

Nigeria - Opposition Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state, a fierce critic of President Muhammadu Buhari, met face-to-face and in a warm handshake with the president at the villa on Thursday.
Fayose was at the Villa to attend the Council of State meeting. Others in attendance are former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who recently criticised Buhari’s administration and advised the President against seeking a second term.

Tragedy as five dead, 15 missing in Indonesia landslide
At least five people have been killed and 15 are still missing after a landslide cascaded down the terraced slopes of a rice field on the Indonesian island of Java on Thursday, officials said.
The victims, farmers tending their crops in Brebes district, Central Java, were buried under an avalanche of mud and rock around 8:00 am (0100 GMT).

There are indications that more than six billion people live in countries that are corrupt, Transparency International said in a report.
More than two-thirds of countries received a poor corruption score in study released on Wednesday, leaving most of the world’s population living in a country characterised as corrupt.
