Nigeria Immigration Denies Requesting Tax Clearance From Applicants

The Nigeria Immigration Service on Thursday said that it did not send any message to applicants requesting their Federal Inland Revenue Service/tax clearance.

The service made this known in a statement signed by the Comptroller of Immigration Media & Publicity, Anthony Akuneme, on Thursday.

The statement shared on their Twitter page added that updates pertaining to the Service’s recruitment would be made available across their official social media platforms.

It read, "The attention of the Service has been drawn to text messages purportedly coming from us, relating to the NIS recruitment.

“In the message(s), mention was made about FIRS/Tax Clearance. We would like to state unequivocally that such message(s) did not emanate from us.

“The NIS will not request FIRS/Tax Clearance from applicants.

“The general public should take note that updates pertaining to the Service’s recruitment would be made available across our official social media platforms and any of such other platforms available.”
