Nigeria - Members of the ‘Fresh PDP’ on Saturday willingly dissolved the recalcitrant group after a marathon meeting with some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A 27-year-old Nigerian man identified as Ebuka Okori has been killed by the police in Durban in the early hours of Friday, the Nigerian community in South Africa said.

Mr Bartholomew Eziagulu, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union chapter in Kwazulu Natal Province of South Africa, told reporters on a phone chat from Durban that the victim was a native of Umunze in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra.

Facebook to let users rank ‘trust’ in news sources

Facebook announced Friday it will ask its two billion users to rank their trust in news sources, in its latest attempt to combat the spread of misinformation on the social network.

The change comes as the online giant seeks to address charges that it has failed — along with Google and Twitter — to prevent the spread of bogus news, most strikingly ahead of the 2016 US presidential election.

A monarch in Taraba State and 28 others were killed during the week in fresh attacks by Fulani herdsmen.

The attacks, which took place between Tuesday and Wednesday, occurred while the dust was yet to settle on herdsmen attacks on some Benue communities early in the year, which resulted in the death of about 70 residents.

Nigeria - The Akwa Ibom Government says it has sacked Dr. Nwaopara A.U, a Consultant and Medical Superintendent, Psychiatric Hospital, Eket, for allegedly stealing six hospital beds and converting them to personal use.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, made the disclosure while addressing the management and staff of the hospital in Eket on Friday.
