Pakistan shrine blast: Death toll now at 52, IS claims responsibility.

At least 52 people died and scores of others were injured when a bomb exploded at a remote Sufi shrine in southern Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province on Saturday, officials said.

The blast hit a crowd of worshippers participating in a ceremony at the shrine of the Sufi saint Shah Noorani in Khuzdar district, some 750 kilometres (460 miles) south of provincial capital Quetta.

In Myanmar, 8 killed in surge of Rakhine violence

Myanmar’s military said its troops killed six people and lost two soldiers in clashes with attackers in Rakhine state on Saturday, in the latest flare-up of violence in the crisis-hit region.

Northern Rakhine, which is home to the Muslim Rohingya minority and borders Bangladesh, has been under military lockdown ever since surprise raids on border posts left nine police dead last month.

An explosion at a Muslim shrine in southwestern Pakistan killed at least 25 people and wounded dozens of others, local officials said.

Hashim Ghalzai, a local district commissioner, told Reuters that the toll was based on initial reports, and could rise further.

Hundreds of Boko Haram fighters and their families have surrendered in Chad in the past month, security and U.N. sources said, in a sign the military campaign against them is making headway.

Stampedes and scuffles in India as rupee banknotes withdrawn from circulation to tackle corruption and tax invasion

There have been stampedes and scuffles breaking out in India as millions of people scramble to change old currency notes which have become worthless.

Long queues continue outside banks just a few days after the high-value notes were withdrawn by the government in a surprise announcement.

The country's 500 (£6) and 1,000 (£12) rupee notes will no longer be legal tender due to efforts to tackle corruption and tax evasion. 

Again, two Hospitals attacked in Syria

A hospital in Kafr Zita in rural Hama, has been hit by at least two barrel bombs, resulting in severe damages to the facility.

According to media release made available to David Lawal of The Nation by the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations (UOSSM) in Syria, the initial reports show no casualties even as the facility was rendered completely out of service.

Nigeria - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested one Damilola Fasakin for alleged romance scam through the Internet.

The commission spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said in a statement on Friday in Abuja that Fasakin is a French graduate of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.

Donald Trump's ban on Muslims disappears and reappears on his campaign website

One of President-elect Donald Trump‘s most divisive promises — to ban Muslims from entering America — disappeared from his campaign website before reappearing on Thursday.

Trump‘s campaign staff told US media that text of the pledge, posted in December following terror attacks in San Bernardino, California, vanished because of a technical glitch.

It reappeared after journalists questioned the disappearance.
