ENTERTAINMENT: PHOTONEWS - 42-year-old unemployed man wins Zimbabwe's Mr Ugly pageant

42-year-old unemployed Maison Sere was crowned Zimbabwe's ugliest man at a pageant in Harare today November 21st. Sere, who has several missing teeth and dressed in torn overalls, beat 5 other contestants for the $500 Mr Ugly prize - a large sum in a country facing massive unemployment.

"I want to thank God for winning this title, last time I came fourth. I just want to thank the judges for recognising me as the winner," Sere told journalists during a night of festivities attended by 200 revellers.

Show organiser David Machowa said he created the pageant in 2012 to celebrate "beauty in ugliness". "The show last night was very successful, and I still have plans to host Mr Ugly world," he said.

NEWS: VATICAN SCANDAL - FIVE CHARGED

The Vatican has charged five people, including two journalists and a top priest or monsignor, over the leaking and publication of secret documents.

The documents were cited in two books, by journalists Emiliano Fittipaldi and Gianluigi Nuzzi, alleging misspending and corruption at the Vatican.

The journalists deny claims that they exerted pressure to obtain information.

Two members of a papal commission advising on economic reform, and an assistant, were also charged.

Monsignor Lucio Vallejo Balda, and his colleague on the commission, public relations expert Francesca Chaouqui, were arrested early in November.
The books, "Merchants in the Temple" by Mr Nuzzi and "Avarice" by Mr Fittipaldi, included details of alleged corruption, theft and uncontrolled spending in the Holy See.

In a statement, the Vatican said magistrates "notified the accused and their lawyers of the charges filed... for the unlawful disclosure of information and confidential documents".

Ms Chaouqui was released shortly after her arrest after pledging to co-operate with authorities. Monsignor Balda remains in a Vatican cell.

Both, along with assistant Nicola Maio, are accused of forming "a brotherhood of crime" and stealing documents, the Vatican said.

FOOTBALL: EL CLASSICO - Suarez scores brace as Real Madrid crash

Luis Suarez bagged a double, with Neymar and Andres Iniesta also on target as Luis Enrique's side ran riot at the Bernabeu on Saturday


Barcelona romped to a dominant Clasico triumph on Saturday as two goals from Luis Suarez inspired them to a 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. 


Rafael Benitez had vowed to attack the Liga leaders and he named Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez in his starting line-up, but it was Barca who took the lead when Suarez fired beyond Keylor Navas, with the returning Lionel Messi watching from the bench.

Neymar made it 2-0 shortly before the break and a stunning goal from Andres Iniesta put the champions firmly in charge early in the second period before Suarez's delicate finish made it four after Messi - who came on in the 55th minute - had fed Jordi Alba.

Madrid's players never looked comfortable in Benitez's deep-lying set-up and the front three were isolated throughout, though Claudio Bravo denied Cristiano Ronaldo superbly late on.

The result means Barca are now six points clear of Madrid at the top of the table and piles further pressure on Benitez's shoulders ahead of a crucial few weeks before the winter break.


After a slow opening it was Neymar who missed the first good chance, blasting over the bar from the edge of the area after Suarez had teed him up following Alba's cross.

Madrid responded swiftly, Bravo beating away Ronaldo's cross after some fine interplay between the reunited front three of the Portuguese, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.

But Barca were in front with 11 minutes on the clock. Sergi Roberto burst through the heart of midfield and, as Sergio Ramos pushed up to close him down, he slipped the ball through to Suarez who bent a low shot past Navas and into the bottom corner.

Neymar brought a good save from Navas with a free-kick before Bravo denied James Rodriguez low to his left after Luka Modric set him up 20 yards out, but Barca doubled their advantage just six minutes before the break.

Iniesta was granted far too much time and space in the final third and a delicate chipped pass allowed Neymar to spring the offside trap and squeeze the ball under Navas at the near post.

Barca almost made it three just before half-time, Marcelo recovering superbly to head the ball off the line after Neymar had combined brilliantly with Suarez.

Madrid came flying out of the traps in the second half and Marcelo should have done much better when he fired into the side-netting after running clean through down the left.

Bravo turned a James shot around the post but Madrid were cut apart again on 53 minutes as Barcelona bagged a third. Iniesta, once more given the freedom of the final third, passed in to Neymar and, after the Brazilian back-heeled into his path, fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Benitez threw on Dani Carvajal and Isco and the full-back came close to a goal as he scuffed a shot narrowly wide, before Raphael Varane headed straight at Bravo from close range.

Bale bent a fine pass to Ronaldo on the break but Navas stood up well to deny the Portugal captain's lofted effort, and Barca had a fourth just six minutes later. Alba touched Messi's pass on to Suarez, who clipped a finish beyond Navas and into the far corner without a Madrid defender in sight.

Bravo saved superbly to keep out Ronaldo's header and Madrid's evening went from bad to worse when substitute Isco was sent off for kicking Alba as he ran clear in the closing minutes, allowing Barca to ease to an emphatic victory.

I can also recall stressing on the point that your thoughts about making money from blogging must be secondary if you want to be successful. There is no doubt I would be unveiling various ways of monetizing your blog and making steady cash when it gets to the time, but you must first of all be passionate in doing what you do for free and generate unlimited traffic through various media some of which I would be unveiling in today's episode! Now sit back, relax yourself and let's go!!!

Becoming successful in blogging is like turning your passion to purpose in due course. It is all about turning what you like doing best in your leisure into unlimited cashflow.

If you are new to blogging, have you discovered your passion? 

If you are already a blogger, how well do you keep your guests glued to your posts? Do you keep them waiting for lengthy spells before you make another post? Or do you just post once in a month? BREAKING NEWS: Multiple suicide attack leaves not less than 10 people dead in Cameroon

No fewer than 10 people are feared dead and many others injured after a 4 Boko Haram suicide bombers attacked the village of Nigue, a suburb of Fotokol town, in Far North of Cameroon. "The initial figures speak of 10 dead including the suicide bombers and around a dozen wounded," a senior Cameroonian army commander told the Reuters news agency.

The Leicester City striker pounced in the dying minutes of the first half against Newcastle United to draw level with the former Manchester United star

Jamie Vardy has equalled Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of scoring a goal in 10 consecutive Premier League games.

The Leicester City striker opened the scoring against Newcastle United at St James' Park, netting his 13th of the season and matching the former Manchester United man in the process.

Vardy reached the record in fine fashion, as he played a stunning one-two before darting inside Chancel Mbemba and finishing.

The goal finally managed to break down Newcastle, after Leicester had enjoyed the best of the opening 45 minutes without finding the net.

Van Nistelrooy has held the record since 2003, while the likes of Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge have managed to score in nine consecutive Premier League

The striker scored a late penalty before turning in Bastian Schweinsteiger's injury-time shot as Louis van Gaal's side retuned to the top of the Premier League table


Troy Deeney scored at both ends of the pitch in a frantic finale as Manchester United beat Watford 2-1 to move to the top of the Premier League.

Memphis Depay, who had been left out for the previous two matches, scored with a brilliant volley from Ander Herrera's cross early in the game and it looked like that strike would prove decisive.

David de Gea made an excellent save from Almen Abdi in the second half but United were not to keep a sixth consecutive clean sheet as Deeney scored a late penalty after Marcos Rojo had fouled Odion Ighalo in the box.

United secured a dramatic victory in stoppage time, though, as Deeney scored an own goal as he attempted to keep out Bastian Schweinsteiger's cross-shot.

NEWS: Paris attacks - Brussels, Belgium on highest terror alert

Belgium has raised its terror alert in the Brussels region to the highest level, warning of a "very serious" and "imminent" threat.

The metro will be closed till at least Sunday, and the public has been warned to avoid crowds, including shopping centres and concerts, a statement said.

The warning for the rest of Belgium stays at a lower level - still serious.

Brussels was home to the suspected perpetrators of the Paris terror attacks carried out a week ago.

One of those being sought, Salah Abdeslam, is believed to have gone back to Belgium.


On Friday, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution to "redouble" action against Islamic State following last week's deadly attacks in the French capital in which 130 people died.

The French-drafted document urges UN members to "take all necessary measures" in the fight against IS, which said it carried out the attacks.

NEWS NIGERIA: OHANAEZE GROUP DISOWN BIAFRA AGITATORS NNAMDI KANU AND COHORTS

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the on Friday disowned the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and his cohorts in their struggle for the state of Biafra.
The Chairman, Forum of State Presidents of Ohanaeze in the seven Igbo –speaking states, in Awka, Dr. Chris Eluomunoh, said no right thinking person would support what he called the madness of the group .

He is quoted as thus:
“You will notice that Ohanaeze has been very silent on the issue of Biafra insurgency, though the youth wing of Ohanaeze has been speaking on it. Ohanaeze, as the Igbo cultural group, cannot support Biafra and we dissociate ourselves from it totally.
“Igbo people have contributed much to the development of Nigeria and we cannot allow some people to jeopardise the lives and efforts of millions of Igbo residing in all parts of Nigeria.
“We believe that anybody who has any issue to settle with the Federal Government should use dialogue and that is why we participated in the last National Conference. No sane Igbo person would want to witness a repeat of the kind of thing that happened during the Civil War.
“(Chief Odumegwu) Ojukwu, who led the Biafra war, returned to Nigeria from exile and contested elections in Nigeria, which showed that he was fully integrated into Nigeria and was a full-fledged Nigerian before he died.”
Eluemunor said that most of the agitation for a Biafran state came mainly from those living abroad.

He called on Pres. Buhari to declare a state of emergency on the infrastructure problem in the South East by rehabilitating the federal roads that have become death traps due to neglect.
He said doing so would help to correct the imbalances and marginalization being suffered by the Igbos.
He said:
“We know the marginalisation was not caused by him, but we plead that he should look into the problems being complained about by the people of South East and South–South. He has won the election and we in Ohanaeze support him and will work with him for the unity of the country.”

NEWS NIGERIA: PRESIDENT BUHARI VISITS IRAN FOR 3RD GAS EXPORTING COUNTRIES FORUM

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina yesterday stated that President Muhammadu Buhari will leave for Tehran, Iranian capital to participate in the 3rd Gas Exporting Countries’ Forum, GECF, which opens on Monday.

The statement read:
“President Buhari and the leaders of Iran, Russia, Qatar, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Oman, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates, Bolivia and other member-countries of the GECF are expected to review the current market outlook on gas and discuss strategies for boosting gas production during their meeting in Tehran.”




“Nigeria and other GECF members currently account for 42 percent of global gas production‎, 70 percent of global gas reserves, 40 percent of pipeline transmission of gas and 65 percent of the global trade in Liquefied Natural Gas.
“President Buhari who is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with other participating Heads of State and Government on the sidelines of the GECF summit, will also meet with Nigerians resident in Iran.

FOOTBALL: JUST IN - Fifa requests sanctions for Blatter and Platini

Fifa has concluded its investigation into alleged wrongdoing by president Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini, one of six candidates in line to succeed him, and has requested sanctions against the pair.

The president and vice-president of football's world governing body have both been serving 90-day suspensions after Swiss prosecutors accused Blatter of making a disloyal £1.3 million payment to Platini in 2011.

Last week Fifa rejected an appeal by the pair to have their suspensions overturned and they could now face multi-year bans, though the sanctions have yet to be confirmed.

On Saturday, the world game's governing body published a statement confirming that the final reports on both Blatter and Platini had been submitted.

"The investigatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has submitted its final reports containing requests for sanctions against Joseph Blatter and Michel Platini to the adjudicatory chamber chaired by Hans-Joachim Eckert," the statement read.

"The final report regarding Joseph S. Blatter was submitted by Robert Torres, the report regarding Michel Platini was submitted by Vanessa Allard. For reasons linked to privacy rights and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, the chamber will not publish details of the concluded reports and the requested sanctions against the two officials.

"In accordance with the provisions of article 35 paragraph 2 c) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, the chairman of the investigatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee, Dr Cornel Borbely, withdrew from the proceedings against Joseph S. Blatter from the start.

"As the two proceedings are closely related and to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interests, Dr Borbely also withdrew from the proceedings against Michel Platini."
Blatter recently confirmed he will stand down from his current role in February and Platini had hoped to succeed him, but those plans are now in disarray.

Mali said the gunmen had "no more hostages" and were being chased. More than 20 people died, and a national state of emergency has been declared.

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and its offshoot al-Murabitoun said they carried out the attack.

Speaking after a crisis cabinet meeting late on Friday, Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita announced the state of emergency from midnight on Friday for 10 days, as well as three days of national mourning.

e said 21 people were killed in the attack, including two gunmen.

Earlier reports said at least 27 people had died. A UN official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said 12 bodies were found in the basement and 15 on the second floor. 

One of the hostages killed was Geoffrey Dieudonne, a member of parliament in Belgium's Wallonia region.

China's state news agency Xinhua says three Chinese nationals are among the dead. The US state department said one US citizen was killed.

UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said three Britons in the hotel were safe.

NEWS: PARIS ATTACKS - UN backs 'all necessary measures' against IS

UN UNITE AGAINST ISIS

The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a resolution to "redouble" action against Islamic State, following last week's deadly attacks in Paris.

The French-drafted document urges UN members to "take all necessary measures" in the fight against IS.



IS said it carried out the Paris attacks, in which 130 people died.

It also claimed deadly bombings in Lebanon this month, while an IS-linked group said it downed a Russian passenger plane in October.

The UN resolution 2249 also condemns recent attacks in Sousse, Tunisia, and Ankara, Turkey.


The UN Security Council called on member states to "eradicate the safe haven" IS and other militant groups had established over parts of Iraq and Syria.

The document also stresses that nations should "redouble and co-ordinate their efforts to prevent and suppress terrorist attacks".

However, it does not invoke the UN's Chapter VII, which gives specific legal authorisation for the use of force.

France and Russia have argued that military action is already justifiable because of the right of countries to self-defence.

Former Nigeria head coach Clemens Westerhof has cried out that the Super Eagles have a zero chance to qualify for the 2018 World Cup under Sunday Oliseh.

The Super Eagles defeated Swaziland 2-0 on aggregate to reach the qualifiers’ group stages and the Dutch who led Nigeria to the 1994 World Cup feels with Oliseh in charge, a place in Russia 2018 might be a wild goose chase.

“Congratulations, you beat Swaziland 2-0 in the return leg match of the preliminary round of the qualifiers,” Westerhof told CompleteSports.

"But does that really call for celebration? Yes, there are no minnows in football but who are Swaziland to hold the Super Eagles to a goalless draw (in Swaziland).

“The Super Eagles won 2-0 in (Port Harcourt) Nigeria but is it not a game the Super Eagles should be winning 6-0 7-0 under normal circumstances? What type of football do they play in Swaziland?

“Swaziland is not the first match Super Eagles have played under Oliseh. There has not been any difference between their first game under him and the game with Swaziland.

“I’m sorry, with Oliseh, the Super Eagles may not go to the World Cup in Russia,” he concluded.

Westerhof coached Nigeria for five years and won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and also led the country to their first Fifa World Cup same year in the United States of America.

NEWS: Mali hotel attack - 'No more hostages' after special forces raid

Suspected Islamist gunmen who stormed a hotel in Mali's capital, Bamako, have "no more hostages", officials say.

The Radisson Blu Hotel was stormed by special forces after gunmen entered it and seized 170 people, many of them foreign guests.

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and its offshoot al-Murabitoun said they carried out the attack, according to an agency used by jihadists in the region.

An unnamed UN official has said at least 27 people have been killed.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said 12 bodies were found in the basement and 15 bodies were found on the second floor.

NEWS: EBOLA - FRESH CASE CONFIRMED IN LIBERIA SAYS WHO

The World Health Organization has confirmed that a new case of the deadly Ebola virus has surfaced in Liberia. "There is one confirmed case," WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic told AFP, without providing further details. Liberia was declared free in September this year.

A Company trailer belonging to Dangote group collided with several cars along the Asaba-Onitsha expressway, Nigeria and went up in flames today afternoon. Many people are feared dead in the accident. Fire service was able to control the fire but the accident resulted in serious traffic coupled with a long queuue for fuel at a nearby NNPC station due to fuel scarcity.

NEWS: TRAGEDY - 18 DEATHS RECORDED IN ACCIDENT ALONG ABUJA-LOKOJA ROAD

18 people lost their lives in an accident which occurred along Abuja-Lokoja road in the early hours of today November 20. The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Mr. Ogochukwu Ugboma, who confirmed the tragic news disclosed that sixteen men and two women died in the accident while others, including a female child, sustained injuries.


"The accident, which occurred at about 5.45 am, near Gegu village, involved a Lagos bound luxury bus with registration number Lagos XT 286 LSD belonging to a popular transport company, First Tarzan," Mr. Ugboma said. "86 persons, comprising two children, 59 men and 25 women were involved in the accident. Though the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, some eyewitnesses said the bus ran into an ambush laid by armed robbers." he added.

He further disclosed that the driver was making a U-turn in a bid to escape when the bus plunged into a ditch, leading to the death of some passengers. Corpses and the injured were taken to the Federal Medical Center in Lokoja while investigation into the accident had commenced.

FOOTBALL: EL CLASICO - Messi not 100% for Real - Barca fixture says Luis Enrique

The Barcelona boss says a decision will be left as late as possible on whether or not the Argentina star begins the match against Real Madrid

Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique has confirmed Lionel Messi is available for Saturday’s Clasico, but stressed he will not be “100 per cent fit” for the trip to Real Madrid.

Enrique wouldn’t be drawn on whether or not Messi will start the match at the Bernabeu, though, saying he will make a decision on his line-up as close to kick off as possible.

The Argentina international has been missing since the end of September when he injured ligaments in his knee against Las Palmas.

However, he has returned to training this week and could feature in this weekend’s top of La Liga clash.


“There’s still today’s [training] session and things we have to talk about. We know he won’t be 100 per cent, that’s impossible because he’s just coming back form injury, but it is great for us to know that he is recovered.”

Pushed on if Messi would start, Enrique responded: “I don’t have things planned yet. I will speak with Leo today and again tomorrow. An hour before the game, things will be decided.

“I watch all my players training, especially those coming back from injuries. You can see things, but it is the player who can tell you how he is feeling, how confident he is.

“I can tell you Leo is excited about his comeback. The great news is he is fit again.”

Ivan Rakitic is also in contention for the game against Real Madrid despite injuring his calf against BATE Borisov in the Champions League earlier this month.

Initial fears were that the Croatian midfielder would be out for a month, but he has trained this week and Enrique confirmed he is available for selection once again.

“With respect to Leo, he’s back with the squad and the feelings are positive,” the Barca boss told a press conference.
