A cessation of hostilities, described as Syria's best hope for peace in five years of fighting, has come into effect.
Early reports suggest it has largely been respected by both sides of the conflict since it began on the stroke of midnight (2200 GMT).

The Supreme Court has okayed the convicted General-Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, a.k.a Rev. King, to die by hanging. In a unanimous judgment this afternoon, a seven-man panel of Justices ‎of the apex court led by Justice Walter Onnoghen, upheld the death sentence that was earlier handed to Ezeugo by the Lagos state high court. Consequently, the court in its lead verdict that was delivered by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, dismissed the appeal the convicted clergy lodged before it.

World Health Research Article: Sperm grown in lab make healthy offsprings, research says


Sperm have been made in the laboratory and used to father healthy baby mice in a pioneering move that could lead to infertility treatments.
The Chinese research took a stem cell, converted it into primitive sperm and fertilised an egg to produce healthy pups.

Football: Cristiano Ronaldo says he is staying at Real Madrid


 Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he is happy at Real Madrid and has no intention of leaving the club.


The Portuguese star has been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu recently, with Paris Saint-Germain widely mooted as a possible destination for the three-time Ballon d'Or winner.

But despite criticism of his form at times this season and the speculation surrounding his future, Ronaldo has stressed he continues to feel appreciated by the Madrid fans and is eager to prolong his time at the club.

"Real Madrid is a club with a lot of pressure from both inside and outside, but I have been here for many years and I am used to it," he told Mahou.

WORLD NEWS: UPDATE ON NEPAL PLANE CRASH- Twenty-Three Dead In Nepal Plane Crash


A plane has crashed in a mountainous area of Nepal, killing all 23 people on board.

Rescuers launched a desperate search for the jet after it went missing in bad weather, minutes after taking off.

Nepal's interior minister Aananda Prasad Pokharel said the burnt wreckage was found several hours later in the remote Myagdi district.

He said bodies could be seen scattered amongst the wreckage.

WORLD NEWS: BUSINESS - Pound Below $1.39 On EU And Global Worries


The pound remained on the ropes on Wednesday, slipping to fresh lows not seen for almost seven years as the EU referendum campaign shakes the currency's appeal among investors.

Financial analysts cited uncertainty over the looming vote and also renewed worries about the global economy.

The slide in the pound's value began when financial markets opened on Monday after David Cameron announced a date of 23 June for the EU vote.

Pauline Cafferkey has been taken from Glasgow to London by an RAF Hercules for a third stay in hospital since contracting Ebola.

The nurse is to be treated at the Royal Free Hospital for "a late complication from her previous infection", a spokesman confirmed.

The hospital has the UK's only high-level isolation unit used for treating infectious diseases.

WORLD NEWS: PLANE MISSING IN NEPAL WITH 21 ON BOARD

A small plane with 21 people on board has gone missing while flying in a mountainous area in Nepal.

The plane lost contact after taking off from Pokhara - a resort town west of Kathmandu.

Officials said it was heading north to Jomsom which is the starting point for trekkers going into the mountains.

At least three people have been killed after tornadoes and severe weather ripped through southern Louisiana and Mississippi.

Static homes were destroyed and roofs ripped from buildings.

Two people were killed in Convent, in southern Louisiana, and authorities are still looking for people believed to be trapped under the debris.

The EFCC said N202,500,000 was spent on buying No. 1, Lahn Crescent, Maitama, Abuja and N120, 100,000 was lavished on the upgrade of No.2, Sigure Close, Off Monrovia Street, Wuse II Abuja.

NEWS: NIGERIA - Nigerian Army arrest DPO and others for allegedly molesting Army Captain


There was tension earlier in the week at the Railway Post, Umuahia, Abia State when police officers attached to the post allegedly manhandled a man later identified as an Army captain for packing his 18-seater Mitsubishi bus close to the fence of the Police station.

According to eye witness accounts, the Divisional Police officer in-charge of the police post was said to be driving into the station when he spotted the bus and ordered the owner to repack the bus claiming that it was blocking his way.
