IMF says Nigeria’s economy still vulnerable despite exiting recession

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Friday that the Nigerian economy was still vulnerable despite the country exiting recession.

The IMF in a statement issued by its Media and Press Officer, Raphael Ranspach, welcomed the Federal Government’s actions to improve the power sector and business environment under the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (EGRP).

Gov. Fayose tells Buhari to resign over fuel scarcity

Nigeria - Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign over the “nonchalant attitude” of the Federal Government towards ending the fuel scarcity being experienced across the country.

The governor said it was unfortunate that the fuel scarcity was biting harder under the watch of the president as the Minister of Petroleum.

Miss Adamawa emerges Miss Nigeria 2017 (PHOTOS)

Miss Adamawa, Mildred Ehiguese emerged winner of the 2017 edition of Miss Nigeria beauty contest, beating contestants from other states of the country. The pageant was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos on Friday.

Miss Delt, Rita Chinedu, was the first runner-up, while Miss Ogun, Tolulope Ayanfalu Mary, was the second runner-up.

According to a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, workers on essential duties were exempted from this development.

Nigeria - The headquarters of National Agency For Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Abuja was gutted by fire on Friday.

The Director, Search and Rescue of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Sonny Ohemu, who led a team to inspect the scene, said the cause of the inferno was being investigated.

Nigeria - A 19-year-old teenager, Blessing, is undergoing treatment in a Lagos hospital after she was bathed with hot water by her employer, Mrs Isioma Ezeofor, who accused her of having a sexual relationship with her husband, Mr Chigozie Ezeofor.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim, who hails from the Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, lived with the couple at their home on Aunty Toyin Street, Kodeibo Estate, in the Isheri Oshun area of the Lagos State.

Anxiety as truck hits Air Peace aircraft at Lagos Airport

Nigeria - A truck operated by one of the ground handling companies on Thursday rammed into and damaged an aircraft belonging to Air Peace at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, disrupting some of its flights.

The incident occurred in the morning during the loading of passengers’ luggage into the cargo hold of the aircraft scheduled to service the carrier’s Lagos-Uyo route.

South Korean guards have fired about 20 warning shots at North Korean troops searching for a defector.

The soldier fled across the heavily guarded demilitarised zone that divides the two countries, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said.

Two Nigerian students, Mustafa Azmir and Jude Nnamdi Achonye, were on Wednesday sentenced to death by the Shah Alam High Court, after they were found guilty of trafficking 3.5 kilogrammes of methamphetamine on September 2nd, 2014.

The Judge, Datuk Abdul Halim Aman handed down the sentence, saying that the prosecution was able to prove a prima facie case against both the accused.
