Nigerian troops neutralise Boko Haram remnants in Sambisa Forest

Troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole on Friday, neutralised remnants of the Boko Haram Terrorists in Sambisa forest and other parts of Northern Borno State.

Under the Operation Deep Punch (II), the troops with effective support from the Nigerian Air Force also destroyed equipment and make-shift accommodation around the Camp Zairo, Improvised Explosives Device (IEDs), booby traps and other devices.

English footballer of Nigerian descent, Rinsola Babajide who was on target fourteen times in a football game two years ago has signed with Liverpool Football Club.

Rinsola Babajide scored 14 goals in the second half of a game between the University of East London (UEL) women’s football team in their 40-0 demolition of the University College London at the British Universities and College Sports (BUCS) cup game in November 2016.

Attack hits Afghan capital Kabul as 18 wounded in explosion

Afghanistan - A huge blast rocked a crowded area of Kabul on Saturday, leaving at least 18 people wounded, an official said, in the latest apparent attack in the Afghan capital.

“So far 18 wounded civilians have been brought to Kabul hospitals,” health ministry spokesman Waheed Majroh told AFP.

Scare as Dana aircraft loses control, hits fence at Abuja airport with passengers on board

Nigeria - A commercial aircraft belonging to Dana Air nearly crashed after hitting the fence of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Friday.

This is coming in less than 24 hours after a chartered aircraft lost its tyres and landing gear at the same airport.

At least 33 people have been killed and dozens injured in a fire at a hospital in Miryang, South Korea, say officials.

The fire is thought to have started in the emergency room at Sejong Hospital, which specialises in cardiology.

Nigeria - Two fuel-laden tankers were burnt in an explosion at Stallionaire Oil Depot,  Satellite Town in Oriade Local Council Development Area of Lagos yesterday.

It is understood that the fire involved one of the tanks containing millions of litres of fuel. One of the tanks filled with PMS exploded, The Nation reports.

Presidency replies Obasanjo after letter to Buhari: Nigeria is doing better under President

The Presidency on Wednesday reacted to the letter by former President Olusegun Obasanjo stressing that Nigeria is doing better under the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration than previous governments. 

Obasanjo in a letter on Tuesday had criticised Buhari’s government and urging him not to recontest in 2019.

The National Environment Agency’s (NEA) on Wednesday warned that the Zika virus has resurfaced in Singapore.

According to an update published on the NEA website, the case, which was diagnosed and reported to authorities on Jan.18, is the first of its kind in 2018 since the disease was thought to be eradicated from the country in September 2017.
