Sylvester Stallone has attacked British comedian Jack Whitehall for creating "insulting lies" after he joked about consoling the actor after his loss at the Oscars.
While the comic's comments were obviously meant to be tongue in cheek, Stallone has not seen the funny side and has surprised many by retaliating.
"'JACK WHITEHALL CONSOLED SLY AFTER OSCARS' I NEVER met this young man Pity it has to be under these circumstances," he tweeted with a photo of a story about Whitehall's comments.
He then wrote on Instagram: "I was very proud of my nomination, worked hard for it, so why would anybody create insulting lies that only distort wonderful memories. Why do it?"
Whitehall had also claimed that he had tell the Rocky star who the actor who defeated him was.
"Also, because he knew I was English, I had to tell him who Mark Rylance was. I talked him through all of Mark’s performances at the Globe theatre.
"Good old Sly, I loved him in Creed. And I love Mark Rylance, so I had to remain pretty neutral about it."
