Ahead of Tuesday's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Alexandria between Egypt and Nigeria, the executive board of the Egyptian Football Association was dissolved by a court ruling on Sunday over suspected rigging of 2012 elections.
The verdict is final and cannot be appealed.
The case dates back to a lawsuit filed in 2013 by the president of the second division football team Bani Ebeid, Hermas Radwan, challenging the integrity of the voting process in the association's 2012 elections.
The regular four-year elections of a new board are set to take place in September 2016.
The current Executive Director of the Board Tharwat Sweilam is expected to direct the association till September.
Gamal Allam, prisedent of EFA said on TV today: "In this time we think only of the match against Nigeria and we do not want anything that could distract the team."
He explained that he would discuss the matter with legal affairs at the Football Association tomorrow or next Tuesday to learn about the verdict and the possibility to respond to it by legal means.
Allam stressed that in any case, he has not thought about resorting to FIFA so as not to introduce Egyptian football to the risk of suspension.
Egypt will host Nigeria in Tuesday's Afcon qualifier as both sides need to win to keep hopes alive after Chad withdrew from the campaign on Sunday.
