Nigeria - Gov. Okorocha of Imo state has directed that the civil servants in the state to vacate for the Christmas holiday on Friday, December 22, 2017 and resume on Monday, January 8, 2018.

According to a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, workers on essential duties were exempted from this development.

One of Nigeria’s most controversial entertainers, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charlyboy has once again taken to the social media to slam the governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.
Charlyboy called the governor out, saying he has – by his bad leadership – made the state an enclave of hunger. He expressed hash words on the governor in Igbo language, also asking if God was still watching what was happening in the state.

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has said that 89 per cent of Nigerians are unhappy “in the real sense of the word happiness”.

According to him, only 4 per cent could really be happy to some extent, while 7 per cent might claim to be happy. He added that the vital aspect of human existence, which is happiness, must be addressed.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has sworn in 28 new commissioners and 27 Transition Committee Chairmen for the 27 local government councils in the state.
He charged them to prove their worth in the service of the state and her people. One of the commissioners sworn in by the governor is his biological sister, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo (nee Okorocha). She is now the state’s Commissioner for Happiness and Couples’ Fulfillment.

Gov. Rochas Okorocha finally reveals amount spent on each statue in Imo
Nigeria - Dr. Ebere Nzeworji, Special Assistant to the Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha on Electronic Media, has revealed the cost of each of the statues of some African leaders erected in the state capital, Owerri.

According to him, each of statues cost between N400,000 and N500,000.

Okorocha blasts Nnamdi Kanu and those politicising his activities: He is on his own
Nigeria - Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, yesterday urged the Federal Government and citizens to treat the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, as an individual whose views do not represent those of the generality of Igbo.

No reasonable Igbo man, the governor said, “would support secession or division of the country.” Okorocha who spoke at the new Yam festival organised by the State Council of Traditional Rulers said that “everyone that loves Ndigbo has condemned the activities of IPOB.”

Rochas Okorocha blasts Biafra agitation: No reasonable Igbo man backs agitation
Nigeria - Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has described the agitation by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, for a sovereign republic in the South-East as a child’s play.
Okorocha, who doubles a Chairman of Progressive Governors’ Forum, made this statement on Wednesday when he led a delegation of the forum on a visit to internally displaced persons, IDPs, and victims of the recent Benue flood disaster in Benue State.

KABOOM!!! IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu tells Okorocha: After 2019, we will send you back to Jos
Nigeria - The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said the group will sack Rochas Okorocha as Governor of Imo State.
Kanu, who spoke in Owerri on Friday, insisted that there would be no election in Anambra State in November and in the other four South-East states in 2019.
He added that “restructuring does not have any meaning”.

Okorocha vows: I will never contest against Buhari in 2019
Nigeria - Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has vowed never to contest against President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general elections.
Okorocha was speaking during a breakfast meeting with journalists in the state at his private residence in Owerri on Tuesday.
“I will never run against President Buhari but would continue to support him in the overall interest of the nation, especially when he has stabilized the nation.
