Nigeria - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed as false claims by Governor Adams Oshiomole, that it registered 8,000 militants for the rescheduled Edo State governorship, stressing that the governor merely flew the kite to get the election postponed.
In a statement by the party’s spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye, PDP took the state governor to task, asking him to disclose the organ of government that did the registration, as well as, the motive.
The party warned Oshiomhole and his cohorts not to “use this lie to tamper with the Voter register, nor should it be used to embark on unwarranted arrest, harassment and intimidation of our members in Edo State.”
While reminding security agencies to recognize that their responsibilities are to the entire people of Nigeria and not only to one political party, APC, the statement added: “In the first instance, we wish to put before Governor Oshiomhole the following pertinent questions, where and when did the PDP register the so-called militants?
“Were they registered by INEC? If not, which organisation registered them? Were they registered as voters or as Observers and for what purpose? And when did Mr. Oshiomhole suddenly discover the registration of the alleged militants?”
