About 20 people have been injured in an explosion on a bus in Jerusalem, an Israeli rescue service has said.
A police spokeswoman said initially there were indications the incident was a terrorist attack, but in an updated statement she said it may have started when an empty bus caught fire and ignited another bus that had passengers on board.
Television pictures showed smoke billowing from two burned-out buses in Derech Hebron in the southwest of the city, an area close to the boundary with the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
A police statement said: "A bus travelling from southern Jerusalem reached Moshe Baram street.
"There was apparently an explosion and the bus started burning. Another bus nearby and a private car were also hit."
The Magen David Adom rescue service said two of the casualties have been seriously injured.
Most of the injuries were said to be burn wounds and smoke inhalation.
An AFP journalist at the scene said one of the vehicles was completely burnt out, while another was partially burned.

A large number of firefighters are battling to extinguish the blaze, they added.
The incident comes amid a number of Palestinian attacks on Israelis, most of them stabbings.
A total of 28 Israelis and two Americans have been killed in the seven-month wave of violence.
At least 189 Palestinians have been killed in that period. Israel says most of the dead were attackers, with the rest killed in clashes.
Attacks on Israeli buses by suicide bombers were a hallmark of the Palestinian uprising from 2000-2005, but have been rare since.
