Manchester United will reject the chance to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo should the player opt against signing a contract extension at Real Madrid, according to Don Balon.
El Confidencial claimed on Wednesday that Ronaldo was closing in on a new five-year deal to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu but fresh reports state that a return to Old Trafford remains a dream for the Portugal international.
Paris Saint-Germain have long been linked with the three-time Ballon d'Or winner but Don Balon say that the interest is not mutual, with the forward unwilling to move to a "minor" league.
United is Ronaldo's preferred destination should he leave Madrid but his former club have reservations over the financial package required to sign the 31-year-old, whom they fear may soon begin to decline, and would prefer to invest in promising youngsters.
