India - Mob Drowns Policeman in Kashmir violence

There are fears of more violence in India-administered Kashmir after at least 20 people were killed in demonstrations over the weekend.
Among those killed was a policeman who drowned when he was trapped in an armoured vehicle after it was pushed into a river by angry protesters.

Most of the 19 civilians who died were young men under the age of 26 from southern Kashmir.
Indian authorities are struggling to contain protests by tens of thousands of Kashmiris angry after a senior anti-India rebel leader, Burhan Wani, was killed by troops on Friday.
Villages and towns in Himalayan region are being patrolled by paramilitary troops and police in riot gear after a stringent curfew was put in force three days ago.
Wani was the leader of Kashmir's largest rebel group, Hizbul Mujahideen. It has been fighting since the 1990s against Indian rule in the mostly Muslim region.
In his early 20s, Wani was seen as the poster boy of the resistance, and was shot together with two other fighters, prompting mass mourning across the region.
Kashmir is claimed by both India and Pakistan, and the 60-year-old dispute has caused wars between the two countries.
