A Florida prosecutor's office announced on Thursday it would not move forward with a misdemeanour battery charge against Corey Lewandowski.
Dave Aronberg, the state attorney for Palm Beach County, said the evidence in the case was "not strong enough to meet the legal burden of a reasonable likelihood of a conviction".
In a statement, the Trump campaign said Mr Lewandowski was "gratified by the decision".
"The matter is now concluded," the statement added.
Police in Jupiter, Florida, charged the campaign boss last month with simple battery over the videotaped altercation with reporter Michelle Fields.
Surveillance footage of the 8 March incident appeared to show Mr Lewandowski grab the reporter and pull her backwards as she tried to ask Mr Trump a question.
Ms Fields, a reporter at the time for the conservative news website Breitbart, later tweeted a picture of bruising on her arm.
Mr Lewandowski tweeted that he "never touched" the reporter, calling her "totally delusional".
Chief Assistant Attorney Adrienne Ellis, who investigated the case, wrote in her findings that "Mr Lewandowski may have had apparent authority to assist in the protection of the candidate, specifically to maintain the 'protective bubble' around the candidate."
Mr Trump, who was fending off mounting criticism at the time following a series of clashes at his rallies, defended his campaign chief's actions.
The Republican front runner rejected calls for Mr Lewandowski to be fired, and accused Ms Fields of exaggerating and changing her story.
Ms Fields resigned from Breitbart following the incident over what she said was the online news outlet's failure to back her.
A number of her colleagues also subsequently quit.
Ms Fields reportedly told TheBlaze she is considering legal action against both Mr Trump and Mr Lewandowski for defamation of character.
