Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has emerged as the shock favourite to take over the Manchester United managerial position from under-pressure Louis van Gaal, according to the Daily Star.
The Old Trafford hierarchy are continuing to publicly back their Dutch boss but former United defender Blanc, who ended his playing carrer with the English outfit in 2003, is supposedly being touted as a future successor alongside Jose Mourinho and current assistant Ryan Giggs.
Blanc, known as Le President, has won successive Ligue 1 titles with runaway French champions PSG and has eliminated Chelsea from the Champions League in consecutive seasons.
