It was initially reported that some of the victims died in Ekeremor and Nembe local government areas in their failed efforts to hijack electoral materials in favour of their candidates.
The Peoples Democratic Party sources had claimed that 12 persons including four policemen and two soldiers were killed, adding that their bodies were deposited at a morgue in Bomadi General Hospital.
The state governor, Seriake Dickson, also said at least 12 people were killed during election violence on Saturday.
He said in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, that there were killings and widespread violence during the election.
But the state Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, said nobody was killed in any part of the state during the poll.
“I can confirm to you that nobody was killed in any part of the state during the election. Be rest assured that there was no report like that,” he said.
