Nigeria - The police in Kano State on Sunday morning engaged gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram in a gun duel.
The operatives were members of a special task force set up by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
At the end of the battle, three Boko Haram fighters were arrested.
Two women, suspected to be wives of the suspects, were also nabbed.
Recall it was earlier reported that Troops of 103 Battalion, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Saturday night, neutralized 3 female suicide bombers trying to infiltrate their location at Kawuri in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Brig. Generel Sani Usmam Kukasheka, Director Army Public Relations, in a statement Sunday morning said the bombers were spotted by a vigilant group while they were trying to access the military location.
“They were challenged severally but continued advancing, declining several warnings to stop.
“Consequently, the troops neutralized them instantly.
“The remains of the suicide bombers have since been evacuated from the location.
“The general public is please requested to continue to support troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and report any suspicious movements of persons to the military or security agencies.”
