NIGERIA - MEANWHILE, PRESIDENCY SAYS BUHARI IS HALE AND HEARTY

The Presidency has dismissed media reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is sick.
Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina refuted the claim on Saturday, insisting that Buhari is as fit as a fiddle.

Earlier today, news had made the rounds that the President was sick and may be flown abroad if his condition does not improve.

The report had claimed that Buhari was diagnosed with Meniere Disease, a disorder of the inner ear and is being treated at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The report also said Buhari’s illness is the reason for the cancellation of some of his official trips recently; such as his planned visit to Lagos State, the flag off of the Ogoni Clean-Up in Rivers State where he was represented by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on the two occasions.

Adesina, denying the report, told the Cable, “Didn’t you see pictures of him receiving Anglican bishops on Friday? Did he look sick? The president is as fit as a fiddle. Anyone who says he is sick is telling lies.
“That is a figment of the person’s imagination. Just yesterday, he received the primate of the Anglican Communion and arch bishops at the presidential villa.

“He also received former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He is hale and hearty. The imagination of whoever says that is on overdrive,” the presidential spokesperson added.
