An Arkansas judge has been arrested on a complaint of negligent homicide after his 18-month-old son died in the back seat of a hot car last summer.
Circuit Judge Wade Naramore faces a misdemeanour complaint in the case, according to an arrest warrant filed in Garland County.
The 36-year-old's toddler, Thomas Naramore, died on 24 July after being left in a car for about five hours in 100F (37C) temperatures in the city of Hot Springs.
According to the warrant, the judge told police he got into his car that afternoon to pick up Thomas from daycare only to realise the boy was still in the back seat.
Naramore called 911 and responding officers found the judge's maroon Toyota Avalon parked on the street with the door open.
The police discovered Naramore in his house holding his son and shouting: "No, my baby!" reports the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Thomas died from "excessive heat", according to an investigation.
Naramore told Hot Springs police in November that he had been worrying that day about a court case, according to the Democrat-Gazette.
Special prosecutor Scott Ellington said Naramore turned himself in on Thursday to be arrested.
He has been released on $5,000 (£3,460) bail.
