Militants kill 20 soldiers, 40 civilians in northeast Nigeria attacks
[Reuters] - Islamic militants killed at least 20 soldiers and more than 40 civilians and injured hundreds in twin attacks in northeast Nigeria’s Borno state on Saturday, residents and a civilian task force fighter said.

Nigeria - An Army officer and six soldiers have been feared killed in a battle with Boko Haram fighters in Mainok, close to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, The Nation is reporting.

Fire razes Maiduguri GSM market
Nigeria - Dozens of shops and property worth millions of Naira were destroyed in Thursday night fire at the Maiduguri GSM market.
The source of the fire is not ascertained as the market officials are yet to give official details of the incident.

How DSS negotiated release of UNIMAID lecturers with Boko Haram - Buhari
Nigeria - President Muhammadu Buhari has explained why it took seven months for the three lecturers of the University of Maiduguri and eight months for the 10 women abducted by Boko Haram insurgents in the North East to regain their freedom.

The president who described the road to securing their release as painstaking and protracted, disclosed that the delay was because the abductors were not only different but based in different locations.

Tragedy as suicide bomber kills five in Borno
Nigeria - At least five people have been reported killed by a suicide bomber in Amarwa village, Konduga local government area of Borno State on Thursday.

Amarwa is about 20 kilometres from Maiduguri, the birthplace of Boko Haram and the capital of Borno.

Boko Haram kills three soldiers in Maiduguri Nigeria
At least three soldiers were killed and another six others were wounded in a Boko Haram raid in northeast Nigeria, the military said on Sunday, in the latest attack in the restive region.

The attack happened on Saturday evening when a large number of jihadists stormed Magumeri, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) north of the Borno state capital, Maiduguri.

Another tragedy as 7 Killed after suicide bombers hit Maiduguri again
Nigeria - At least seven people have been confirmed dead by residents in the early hours of Saturday, when four suicide bombers invaded Fori area behind Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Daily Post is reporting that the suicide bombers, who arrived the area at about 6:50 am with Improvise Explosive Device, IEDs, strapped around their waist, were noticed by security personal and members of the civilian JTF around the area.

Nigeria - Borno state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Damian A. Chukwu has confirmed that four suicide bombers died, while eight people sustained injuries when some insurgents attempted to sneak into Maiduguri today.

Tragedy as five killed in suicide bombing in Maiduguri mosque
Nigeria - At least five people were killed on Monday when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a mosque in northeastern Nigeria, a militia member assisting the military against Boko Haram jihadists said.

Tragedy again as 4 killed and 8 injured in Maiduguri bomb blast

At least four people, including the two bombers, died and eight others were injured when twin bombers attacked Maiduguri yesterday.
Witnesses said the incident occurred at Muna Garage area of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, where one of the two suicide bombers detonated the IED on him, killing himself and two others and injuring eight people.

At least 27 reportedly killed in fresh Boko Haram suicide attack in Borno State

Nigeria - Sad one from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital as suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers have killed at least 27 people and wounded 83 in a new attack.
Reuters reports that the attack happened on Tuesday.
A woman bomber reportedly blew up her self and killed 27 others at a market in Konduga, a village near Maiduguri.

ASUU reveals this disturbing news that over 70 UNIMAID lecturers have resigned over Boko Haram attacks

Nigeria - Activities of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has forced over 70 lecturers mostly professors of the University of Maiduguri, Borno state to resign their appointments with the University, thereby creating a vacum in the number of academic staff of the institution.
Dr. Dani Mamman, Chairman of the academic staff union of the university, ASUU, disclosed this in a chat with newsmen, following the attack on some lecturers of the institution among the oil workers ambushed along Magumeri, Gubio road in Borno Yesu, which left about 69 persons dead while three lecturers were also abducted.

Military foils suicide bomb attack, kills 3 insurgents in Maiduguri
Nigeria - No fewer than three suicide bombers were killed by the military on Friday at Simari area of Maiduguri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident occurred at Simari, outskirt of Maiduguri at about 10p.m. when a male and two female suicide bombers tried to infiltrate the town.

Nigeria - Two heroic dogs reportedly died while foiling what would have been a far more tragic incident at Molai General Hospital in Maiduguri, Konduga local government area of Borno State, in the early hours of Friday, August 4.
The dogs prevented the bombers from gaining entry into the hospital with their persistent barking, and when the male and female insurgents were attacked by the dogs, they were forced to detonate the bomb strapped to their body and died instantly.
