Police inspector, 23 others abducted by gunmen in Kaduna State

Nigeria - A police inspector and 23 others have been abducted by gunmen in Kaduna.

One person was killed by the kidnappers, it was gathered.


Nine persons, including Inspector Gloria Sebastian, one Alhaji Usman and seven members of his family were kidnapped at Ungwan Ma’aji, New Millennium City, Kaduna Wednesday night.
Also, 15 persons were kidnapped in multiple attacks along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
A family was conveying the body of their father who died at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, to Birnin Gwari, when the bandits attacked them on Birnin Gwari Road, killing the driver and kidnapping the passengers.
At Ungwan Ma’aji, Millennium City Kaduna, where nine persons were kidnapped Wednesday night, residents said a similar incident took place last Friday when a Kaduna Polytechnic lecturer identified as Tijjani and two others were kidnapped.
The residents said the kidnappers have contacted the family of the the polytechnic lecturer and demanded N10 million ransom.
An eyewitness who escaped the kidnapper, Ayuba Chiwar, said the 20-man gang stormed their house around 10:30pm and whisked away her elder sister, Inspector Gloria Sebastian.
He said, “I was was in the sitting room chatting around 10:24pm when suddenly, I heard a hard knock on our gate.
“When they got access into the house, they started shouting, where is the boy? They were slapping my sister to produce me, but she told them she didn’t know where I escaped to. So, they went away with her.”
Police spokesman ASP Mohammed Jalige said that he was on an assignment outside the office, but he would get back later. He did not contact the reporter before press time.
