Buratai said while commissioning the projects at Maimalari Cantonment, the Headquarters of 7 Division of Nigeria Army in Maiduguri that the establishment of the human rights office would checkmate human rights violations by the troops and against troops.

“I am happy that we just commissioned a project that was initiated by International Red Crescent, a 20- bed hospital ward dedicated to our officers and soldiers who have been wounded in action in the course of the Operation Lafiya Dole  operations.
You would agree with me that their right has been infringed upon by these criminals of Boko Haram. We will ensure that the rights of combatants and individuals involved in conflict or victims of armed conflict are protected,” he said.
