Talk of fear of creating millions of enemies for himself! Nigeria's SGF says he didn’t accuse Christians of fuelling Buhari death rumour

Engr David Babachir Lawal, secretary to the government of the federation, has denied reports he accused Christians of fuelling the death rumour of ailing President Muhammadu Buhari.
Lawal had reportedly warned Christians to desist from what he described as pull him down syndrome used against President Buhari.
But in a recent reaction, the SGF has called for sanity and objectivity in the representation of his true speech, Leadership reports.

He said: “All I was trying to highlight was the fact that we love each other, as well as our leaders, less and less. If we truly love each other, we would not be happy that so-and-so is ill and for so-and-so to take over, for some reasons.
“That is not in the spirit of national unity. These are the things which divide us and we must not let them continue. That was what I was trying to underline. I was, in no way, accusing Christians of being hateful; I merely made an analogy. I did not kick against Christians. I have no reason to.”
Reports had emerged last week that Lawal claimed Christians were the ones fueling rumours about President Muhammadu Buhari’s health on social media.
Lawal, in a statement issued by head of media of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), accused Christians of criticizing Muslims for pursing their agenda instead of them to pursue their own agenda.
But in a swift response, Christians in Nigeria admonished Lawal to tread softly to avoid incurring the God’s wrath, following his comment.
