According to The Punch, at least one person has been allegedly killed by the operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) along Siun-Sagamu-Abeokuta road on Wednesday, March 8.
It quoted unconfirmed reports as saying that NCS operatives had pursued alleged rice smugglers to a certain point along the road around Kobape when the tragic event occurred.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the clash but he said details were still sketchy and could not determine the number of casualties.
He said: “The area commanders of Sagamu and Abeokuta, the Divisional Police Officer, Owode-Egba and other police officers are now on ground to maintain peace and order.”
