Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be fit enough to feature in the EFL Cup final against Southampton on Sunday.
Wayne Rooney will, however, be in the matchday squad, with the England captain insisting that he wants to stay at Old Trafford in a statement made on Thursday.
Michael Carrick, meanwhile, is also fit enough to be involved, handing the United boss a boost ahead of the clash at Wembley.
"Michael [Carrick] is available. He left the pitch in the right moment. Mkhitaryan is out," said Mourinho. "[Phil] Jones - let's see and decide tomorrow."
Mkhitaryan picked up a hamstring injury in United's Europa League last-32 clash against Saint-Etienne on Wednesday, a game in which he scored the only goal, and there were question marks surrounding his fitness to participate in the final.
The Red Devils take on the Saints on Sunday, February 26 as they look to clinch their second piece of silverware this season.
