Mega party plan? AD Denies Plotting With PDP To Remove President Buhari In 2019

Nigeria - The Alliance for Democracy (AD), has denied reports that they are in merger talks with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties, ahead of the next general elections in 2019.
This was contained in a statement released on Friday, by AD’s national auditor, Ismaila A.A. Ayodele.
He stated that the party’s constitution had no provision for a merger.

“The party shall at all times maintain its progressive ideology and identity.
“However, AD can be in alliance with like-minded political parties with a view to winning elections and implementing people-oriented manifesto of the party.
“AD disown any person or persons who claim to represent the party in any merger talk as they don’t have the party’s mandate to do so,” he said.
The other parties reportedly involved in the merger are: Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Accord Party (AP).
A communique issued at the end of the meeting on Thursday, said that they were yielding to the desire of Nigerians to save the country.
The five political parties said they would stand “united and steadfastly work together in the interest of the vast majority of our people who are now suffering and traumatised by the visionless and dictatorial antics of the government of the day”.
