
Nigeria - Lawal Daura, the head of the State Security Service, has revealed why he met with former Delta state Governor, James Ibori who returned to Nigeria after serving a 13 year jail time in the United Kingdom for corruption.
According to Premium Times, Daura confirmed the meeting to journalists.
The meeting held in Abuja shortly after Ibori arrived Abuja from London where he was recently released from jail.
Daura said: “He met me for a short debriefing session and way forward; also, to welcome him back to his fatherland. We are also meeting soon to discuss issues of interest affecting the nation.”
Ibori was picked up by DSS operatives upon his arrival and then taken to the head office of the DSS for what was described as a briefing.
The former governor who was released afterwards arrived Benin Airport in Edo state, at 2.30 pm on private plane.
He left immediately for Oghara, his country home in Ethiope East local government area of the state where he was received by politicians, friends and associates.
Shortly after his release from UK prison, the former governor had promised he would return to Nigeria to continue his political career in Delta his home state and Nigeria at large.
