Edo, Nigeria - Johnson Oghuma of the APC has emerged the winner of Edo by-election for the vacant House of Reps seat for Etsako Federal Constituency with 39,876 votes to beat PDP’s Jude Imagwe that polled 18,193 votes.
According to the returning Officer for the election Prof. Shola Omotola, who announced the result early Sunday, January 29 morning and declared Oghuma the winner, the APC candidate won with the highest number of the 59,301 votes cast.
Although 58,427 were the valid votes cast and 874 rejected for various reasons.
Oghuma accepted the election results and assured the people of the constituency that they would be duly represented.
“I want to assure Etsako people that I will not fail them.“I will represent them well and their voices will be heared and I will not dissapoint them,” he said.
The by-election was to replace the former holder of the seat Philip Shuaib who is now the deputy governor of Edo state.
