The sound of explosions has been heard in Aleppo despite a ceasefire to allow civilians to leave, Sky sources say.
The ceasefire agreement brokered by Russia, Assad's most powerful ally, and Turkey called for the evacuation of civilians in the eastern areas of the city that had been under rebel control.
However, the evacuation, supposed to start in the early hours of Wednesday, has been delayed, with Syrian government buses waiting empty at an agreed evacuation point.
It was not clear what caused the delay, but rebel groups have blamed militias allied to President Bashar al Assad for the hold-up.
"What is stopping the agreement presently is Iranian obstinacy. But the deal still stands, the ceasefire stands until now," said a commander with the rebel Nour al-Din al-Zinki group, according to the Reuters news agency.
