Nigeria - The Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in Ita Oluwo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, Mr Segun Ilaojo, has been arrested for robbery and possession of a sophisticated micro-barreta pistol.
Also found with Ilaojo when Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) stormed his hideout in Ita – Oluwo community, last Monday, are one Pump Action riffle and nine live cartridges.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, who paraded him before reporters at Eleweran, the Headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command, said the arrest of Ilaojo followed a tip-off about a robbery syndicate that was frequently attacking residents and visitors of Ogijo area of Sagamu.
Iliyasu added that on “receipt of the information, a team of F-SARS swung into action and arrested (Ilaojo) one of the suspected robbers and recovered from him, one Beretta pistol, one pump action gun and nine live cartridges.”
But Ilaojo who claimed to be the OPC Coordinator in Ita Oluwo area of Ikorodu, told The Nation that while the pump action gun was given to him by the community for vigilante service, he retrieved the Beretta pistol from a “thief” allegedly shot dead by the Police over 10 years ago during a joint operation between the Vigilante group and the Police.
54 year-old Ilaojo added that he regretted not handing the berreta pistol that is barely the size of a finger over to the Police when it dropped from the “thief” when (allegedly) the Police bullets cut him down.
Also paraded are two fulanis – Muhammed Ojonla and Adamu Saliu, who are members of a kidnapping ring operating in Imeko area of Ogun State.
Muhammed and Adamu, who said they took to kidnapping because they found themselves always “broke,” were alleged to have abducted 22 year-old Isa Usman last October 3 while the boy was rearing cows in the bush at Sanka village, Imeko.
The suspects were quickly arrested after the victim’s father, Alh. Usman Bakare, reported the abduction to the Police in Imeko division.
The Police Commissioner also paraded 22 other robbery suspects who were picked up at different times and locations in the state by the F-SARS Operatives between August and October this year.
Iliyasu said the large haul of robbery suspects and other offenders within the said period, are the fruits of the undisclosed strategies devised by the Command to “rid Ogun State of criminals, make it safer and more secured.”
The robbery suspects are Bafona Abudu, Tochukwu Ofosa, Wasiu Ojetola, Awosan Sesan, Tunde Saka, Bakare Raaheed, Bello Yussuf, Oni Yussuf, Mofoluwa Olaiya, Samson Bakare and Bola Onajirin.
Others are Adekoya Abiodun, Ayo Lasisi, Nnaji Francis, Segun Alimi, Alexandra Nwadike, Chineye Ben, Kenneth Chukwu and Chukwu Obinna.
Also recovered from the robbery suspects are 24 arms including 14 pump action gun and live cartridges.
