As the Nigerian Army arrests militant leader Ogbudje, illegal refinery destroyed

The Forefront has learnt that operatives of the Joint Task Force codenamed ‘Operation Delta Safe’ have arrested a suspected militant leader who allegedly threatened to blow up the Otorogun Gas Plant situated in the Ughelli-South Local Government Area of Delta State, Punch reports.
The suspect identified as Gabriel Ogbudje was arrested along the Abraka/Agbor Road on Tuesday evening.
The military had last week arrested the suspect’s pregnant wife and his aged-mother after he narrowly escaped arrest.

His septuagenarian mother, Madam Amrevweatefa Odada, who was released on Monday by the military, was arrested along with two youths found when the operatives stormed his family compound at Akperhe Olomu.
The suspect was also alleged to have collaborated with the new militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, to blow up the NPDC/Shoreline major delivery trunk line at the Ogor-Oteri area of the state.
The spokesperson for the 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin, Edo State, Captain Musa Maidawa, confirmed the arrest.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army, 19 Battalion, Koko, Warri-North Local Government Area of the state has destroyed an illegal refinery and a tanker used to transport illegally refined product.
The Commander, 19 battalion, Lt. Col. Anthony Ozemhoya, who also heads the Operation Crocodile Smile disclosed this on Wednesday.
Ozemhoya said the bunkering site and the tanker were destroyed during the exercise of the Operation Crocodile Smile around the Sapele and its environs.
