British tourists have been injured in a deadly double bombing at a beach resort in Thailand sources say.
At least two Britons are among nine foreigners being treated in hospital.
Police say there were two suspected bombs which exploded within 20 minutes of each other during the evening, possibly triggered by mobile phones.
They are said to have been placed in plant pots 50 metres apart on a busy street packed with open-front bars.
Police found ball-bearings at the scene which they think were put in the bombs to cause maximum injury.
A journalist is quoted as saying: "This twin bombing, if it turns out to be that, may be linked to an insurgency in the south of Thailand.
"But if it is, it's very unusual for that insurgency to target tourist areas."
It is a popular destination for both Thai and foreign holidaymakers.
Less than a week ago, Thais voted in a referendum to adopt a military-backed constitution.
It is being seen as the first test at the ballot box for Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, who seized power in a coup in May 2014.
For much of the past decade, Thailand has been plagued by political violence, including several bombings.
In a separate incident earlier in the day, a bomb exploded at a market in the southern Trang province in Thailand, injuring six people.
Police believe that blast was related to a local dispute.
