NIGERIA - EDO PDP CHAIR DAN ORBIH AND OTHERS DETAINED BY THE EFCC

The Forefront understands Edo state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih Tuesday spent a second night at the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over the N700million presidential funds that came to the state.

Also, the Commission at the early hours of Tuesday whisked away the coordinator of the campaign organization of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Edo state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Mr Patrick Aziegbeni to Port Harcourt for further investigations on how the N700million campaign fund was expended in the state.

It was learnt that Ize-Iyamu was said to have received the money from Fidelity Bank on behalf of the party while Aziegbeni and a former Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Lucky Imasuen witnessed the handing over of the cash to Ize-Iyamu, who told newsmen that the money was taken to the residence of a leader of the party where it was shared to party executives in the 18 Local Government Areas.

It was learnt Dan Orbih is being quizzed over the sharing of the money. It was learnt that the Commission had ordered them to return the funds just as it was learnt that they would be charged to court this week.

However the situation is creating confusion in the state PDP, particularly as the party is facing another governorship election this year. While other PDP aspirants such as Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, Osaro Onaiwu and Solomon Edebiri are focused campaigning to their delegates, Ize-Iyamu is still battling with the EFCC.
