Should Leicester City end their fairy tale season with their hands on the Premier League title, coach Claudio Ranieri will stand to receive a big monetary reward.
With the Foxes' just three points away from completing the feat, it seems as though the man in charge had not ruled out such success last summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Ranieri's contract includes a series of clauses meaning that a sum of just under €130,000 will be granted to the Italian for every position that Leicester finishes above 17th, with a separate bonus being added for the title win.
Former England international Graham Le Saux, who played under the Italian at Chelsea, is not surprised by his professional interests.
"Behind the public smiles there is a very serious man and a ruthless coach," he said of his former boss. "He has no problem in leaving out the big names if that's what he believes is best."
While Ranieri was astute, or perhaps ambitious, enough to think ahead in adding a title-winning bonus clause, his players will not enjoy the same sort of financial reward if they pick up the three points required against Manchester United to lift the trophy.
