NEWS: NIGERIA - Pray for Buhari, Dogara urges Christians

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has pleaded with Nigerians most especially Christians to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari, saying, despite the many challenges confronting the country, the administration is more than ever before positioned to surmount them.

Dogara, who spoke during Christmas service at Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Gwarangah, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, noted that every generation has had its own peculiar challenges. He however expressed hope that Nigeria will soon over come its own challenges.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, the Speaker also said the present crop of leaders emerged as a result of persistent prayers of Nigerians who prayed for change.

Dogara noted that in recent weeks and days “many people have been asking where is the change? What is the future of this country?”

The Speaker reminded the congregation that Nigeria is not the only country facing some challenges in the world, “Europe is struggling with refugees, Arab countries are in turmoil while some countries are even failed states.”

Here in Nigeria, the greatest challenge is that of drop in revenue, and income distribution which he said are problems that were inherited saying, “before this government took over, workers in many states were not paid salaries for months, our economy was badly damaged, there was massive looting.”
