Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on Tuesday celebrated his 61st birthday in a grand style with family, friends and colleagues.
Dangote was presented with series of cakes specially designed to showcase his vast business empire.

Homemade alcohol kills 82 in Indonesia. Arrests made
Indonesian police on Wednesday vowed to crack down on the sale of illegal alcohol after home-made liquor killed no fewer than 82 people on the island of Java.
The deputy national police chief Muhammad Syafruddin said that the victims died in West Java province and Jakarta after consuming cheap home-made alcoholic drinks.

Nigeria - A CCTV footage of the reported bank robbery that happened at Offa town in Kwara State has gone viral on the internet.
Fifteen people were reportedly killed when a gang of armed men attacked two banks and a police station in the town.

Guinness World Records on Tuesday named 112-year-old Japan’s Masazo Nonaka world oldest living man.
The title holder was visited at his hometown of Hokkaido by Erika Ogawa, VP Japan for Guinness World Records to officially present him with a certificate for the iconic record.
FG confirms recovery of $322.51m of Abacha's loot from Switzerland
Nigeria - The Federal Government says it has received 322.51 million dollars from the Swiss Government as part of looted funds recovered from former Head of State, late General Sani Abacha.
Mr Oluyinka Akintunde, the Special Adviser, Media and Communications to the Minister of Finance, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
NAF says several Boko Haram militants killed in aerial bombardment in Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said on Tuesday the Air Task Force unit of Operation Lafiya Dole in a combined operation with NAF carried out air strikes against Boko Haram terrorists in Arege and Tumbum Rago areas of Borno State, killing several insurgents in the process.
The NAF Spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanya, said in a statement that ISR Platforms were used for the strikes which destroyed Boko Haram vehicles and killed the occupants inside.

At least 27 children have died after a school bus plunged 200ft (60m) into a gorge in the Himalayan foothills in India.
The young victims were said to be aged between 10 and 12.

Nigeria - A commercial motorcycle operator in Ondo, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of the state, identified as Akinsowon Kehinde, yesterday slumped and died inside a filling station in the town.
The deceased reportedly died shortly after buying petrol at the station.

Nigeria - A woman has disappeared after her 35-year-old lover, identified simply as Sikiru, drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel in the Ishashi area of Lagos State.
Sikiru and the woman had visited the hotel, Regional Hotel and Suites, when the incident happened. The girlfriend fled the facility.
Tragedy as at least 14 killed after missiles hit Homs airfield in Syria
Fourteen people have been killed after an airstrike on a military airbase in Syria, according to the country's state media.
The T-4 airfield near the central city of Homs was hit with missiles early on Monday.
