32 children killed in Indonesia stadium stampede – Official


At least 32 children died in the Indonesia stadium stampede that killed 125 people, an official at the women’s empowerment and child protection ministry told AFP Monday, October 3.


“From the latest data we received, out of 125 people who died in the accident, 32 of them were children, with the youngest being a toddler age three or four,” said Nahar, who like many Indonesians only goes by one name.

Oh gracious! Man crushed to death as mother’s coffin falls on him. Read>

A 40-year-old Indonesian man was killed when his mother’s coffin fell from a funeral tower and crushed him during a service on the island of Sulawesi on Sunday.

The deceased, Samen Kondorura, died from severe head injury when pallbearers lost their footing while carrying the coffin up a bamboo ladder in the Parinding valley in North Toraja district, local police said.

Homemade alcohol kills 82 in Indonesia. Arrests made

Indonesian police on Wednesday vowed to crack down on the sale of illegal alcohol after home-made liquor killed no fewer than 82 people on the island of Java.

The deputy national police chief Muhammad Syafruddin said that the victims died in West Java province and Jakarta after consuming cheap home-made alcoholic drinks.

Baffled doctors quarantine 14-year-old boy who laid 20 eggs in two years

Doctors in Indonesia are baffled by the medical condition of a teenager who had allegedly been laying eggs since 2016.
According to a DailyMail report, 14-year-old Akmal from Gowa in the Asian country claimed to have laid some 20 eggs in the past two years.

At least five people have been killed and 15 are still missing after a landslide cascaded down the terraced slopes of a rice field on the Indonesian island of Java on Thursday, officials said.
The victims, farmers tending their crops in Brebes district, Central Java, were buried under an avalanche of mud and rock around 8:00 am (0100 GMT).

At least 75 people were injured Monday when a mezzanine floor at Indonesia’s stock exchange building collapsed into the lobby, police said, with victims carried out of the debris-filled building on stretchers.
A cascade of glass, metal and other material crashed onto the ground floor when part of the mezzanine level gave way.

Tens of thousands rally in Indonesia to support Palestine

Tens of thousands of Indonesians protested Sunday against the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the latest show of support for the Palestinians in the country with the world's largest Muslim population.
The rally was organised by the top Islamic authority the Indonesian Ulema Council and supported by the government as well as several other Islamic organisations.

The Ayam Cemani chicken of Indonesia is a rare breed of chicken, and you can see why. Everything about this chicken is black: beak, nails, tongue, skin, flesh, bones, and organs…all of it is black!

Bali volcano in Indonesia keeps airport closed for second day

A volcano gushing towering columns of ash closed the airport on the Indonesian tourist island of Bali for a second day Tuesday, disrupting travel for tens of thousands, as authorities renewed their warnings for villagers to evacuate.

Mount Agung has been hurling clouds of white and dark gray ash about 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) above its cone since the weekend and lava is welling in the crater, sometimes reflected as an orange-red glow in the ash plumes. Its explosions can be heard about 12 kilometers (7 1/2 miles) away.

Tragedy as 46 people killed, 43 injured in Indonesia fireworks factory fire

At least 46 people have been killed and dozens more injured in a blaze that tore through a fireworks factory outside Jakarta, police said Thursday, triggering explosions and sending plumes of black smoke into the air.
Many of the charred corpses of victims were found clustered at the back of the factory in an industrial complex in Tangerang, police said, indicating there may have been a panicked rush to flee the flames.

Wow! In Indonesia, nearly 50,000 flee amid fears of Bali volcanic eruption

Nearly 50,000 people have evacuated their homes for fear of an imminent volcanic eruption on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, disaster officials said Monday.
Mount Agung, 75 kilometres (47 miles) from the tourist hub of Kuta, has been shaking since August and threatening to erupt for the first time in more than 50 years.

A 16-year-old has reportedly married a 71-year-old woman against the wishes of an Indonesian community after threatening suicide if their families blocked the union.
Selamat Riayadi and his elderly bride named only as Rohaya are said to have got married in their home village of Karangendah in the western South Sumatra province of Indonesia.

Tragedy as 8 die after speedboat capsizes in Indonesia




At least, eight people including a toddler died after a speedboat capsized off the coast of Borneo, Southeast Asia on Tuesday (July 25th).
The boat – carrying 51 people – capsized outside a busy Indonesian port. Witnesses said passengers jumped into the water without life vests, while others on board were feared to be trapped inside the boat.
