Court sentences man for plotting with ISIS to bomb Nigerian church in US


A federal court in the United States has sentenced a Pennsylvania man, Mustafa Mousab Alowemer to 208 months (17 years and 3 months) for plotting with an international terrorist organisation, Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) to bomb a Nigerian church in Pittsburgh, US.

'Intelligence gold mine': Sister of killed IS leader is captured alive in Syria

Just days after Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi was killed in Syria, his older sister has reportedly been captured alive in the same country.

Turkey said it had arrested 65-year-old Rasmiya Awad in northwest Syria - which a Turkish official called an intelligence "gold mine".

KABOOM! 'Islamic State-infested' island wiped out by 40 tonnes of explosives

US warplanes have dropped 40 tonnes of explosives on an island in northern Iraq to annihilate an Islamic State hideout.

F-15 and F-35 fighter jets were used in the joint operation between US-led coalition forces and the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service, which targeted Qanus Island in the Tigris River.

Hollywood actor Michael Enright has joined troops digging against ISIS in Syria city of Raqqa to avenge terror attack on Manchester.
Enright from Moss Side is reported to be fighting ISIS to avenge the attack in his hometown.
The 52-year-old Enright starred alongside Johnny Depp in the blockbuster film Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Grand al-Nuri Mosque of Mosul, with  its famous leaning minaret,  has been bombed by retreating Islamic State militants as Iraqi forces seeking to expel the group from the city closed in on the site.
It was from this medieval mosque three years ago that the militants’ leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared a self-styled “caliphate” spanning parts of Syria and Iraq.

A US Navy fighter jet shot down a Syrian government warplane after it attacked Washington-backed fighters near ISIS’ de facto capital of Raqqa, the U.S.-led coalition has said.
In a statement, the coalition headquarters in Iraq said that a F/A-18E Super Hornet shot down a Syrian Su-22 that had dropped bombs near positions held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

23-year old arrested in connection with Manchester attack that killed 22, claimed by Islamic State



A suicide bomber killed at least 22 people and wounded 59 at a packed concert hall in the English city of Manchester in what Prime Minister Theresa May called a sickening act targeting children and young people.
Islamic State, now being driven from territories in Syria and Iraq by Western-backed armed forces, claimed the attack as revenge against "Crusaders".

The official said on Saturday that the civilians from al-Zanjili neighbourhood in western Mosul were executed after they were caught attempting to escape.

There are indications more than 30,000 militants from over 100 countries arrived to the Middle East in the past years to join terrorist organizations, such as Islamic State, ISIS and Al Qaeda.

Five Nigerians were among the 35 women captured by the Islamic State fighters in Sirte, Libya and turned into sex slaves for months.
The Nigerians and 28 Eritreans, were freed by Libyan forces last December and then made to face another spell of detention in a Misrata prison.
They had escaped from Sirte, a former Islamic State stronghold in central Libya, while forces from the nearby city of Misrata battled to oust the militants, Rueters reports.
