Manchester United has dropped its interest in signing Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid, several British outlets have reported on Thursday.
The Europa League winners had made Griezmann their number one target ahead of this summer.
However, Jose Mourinho is shifting his focus to signing a proper striker.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently underwent surgery in the US, after sustaining a long-term knee injury and is out of contract at the end of the month.
Mourinho’s new targets include Romelu Lukaku (Everton) and Andrea Belotti (Torino).
The new development may also be related to The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)’s ruling on Thursday.
CAS has upheld a transfer ban against Atletico, over irregularities in the signing of foreign players under the age of 18. It means the Madrid club will not be able to register new players until January 2018.
The La Liga club were reportedly ready to sell Griezmann and replace him with Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
