See PHOTOS as Igbos comply with sit-at-home order, markets shut down to mark Biafra at 50



Nigeria - Daily Post is reporting that Igbos in some South East states are observing the sit-at –home order by pro-Biafra groups, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, to mark the 50th anniversary of the declaration of Biafra.
The pro-Biafra groups had also given the directive to honour those who died during the Biafra Civil War.

Photographs of the Main Market and New Market in Owerri, the Imo state capital showed that both markets were totally deserted and closed for business to honour the directive.
In Mile 1 market, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, traders, who are mostly Igbos deserted the market completely.
Daily Post correspondent monitoring the situation in Enugu said residents complied with the sit-at-home order.
According to him, “most shops are closed, streets deserted while armed security agencies are seen patrolling the streets.
“Intra city movement is difficult as most keke drivers and commercial drivers are not on duty.”
Most public and private schools in the state have been shut down, report indicates.
