Hehehe... Tinubu will beat Holyfield, says NBBC president, Ladipo

Nigeria - Ahead of the Evander Holyfield versus Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Lagos Charity Boxing Bout slated for May 25 as part of the celebrations of Lagos at 50, President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBC) Rafiu Ladipo has backed Tinubu to knock out the American.

The two fighters have been trading words ahead of the event, which will feature other high-profile fights.
The former Governor of Lagos State had said he would knock down the five times heavy weight champion Holyfield in the second round of the fight that would be refereed by Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka. Before Tinubu’s comments, Holyfield had also showed off in a popular video revealing his participation in the fight, where he stated that he was ready to take on Tinubu.
“Jagaban, I am coming for you, the real deal,” Holyfield said.
However, Ladipo said at a press conference on Thursday in Lagos that he was optimistic Tinubu had what it took to overcome his opponent.
“Don’t be surprised if Tinubu knocks down Holyfield during the fight, I know that’s what he is eyeing and he can do it because he did boxing while growing up,” Ladipo stated.
The promoters of the event, ACI Entertainment and Bishop Entertainment Consult said they are very pleased with the positive feedbacks the bout has generated.
The CEO of ACI, Wole Adeniyi, said, “Boxing was one of the most popular leisure activities in Nigeria during the immediate post-World War 2 era up until the 1970s. Today, football is by far Nigeria’s most popular sport but boxing bouts was once as popular, if not more.”
The organisers announced that the charity-focused event was aimed at “bringing world attention to some health-related issues in Africa and will focus on cases such as Autism in children, breast cancer, mental illness, HIV/AIDS and river blindness.”
They added that they would also donate medical and relief materials worth millions of naira to the Lagos State Government and other states.
