David Beckham may have wowed the world with his sporting talents, but his latest on-screen performance has left fans "cringing".
The ex-footballer, 42, has a small part in Guy Ricthie's upcoming film, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
But when a new trailer and clips from the film were released this week some fans were unimpressed by Beckham's acting skills.
In the film, Beckham plays a disgruntled Cockney knight called Trigger who offers a few offhand words of advice to Arthur as he attempts to pull the legendary sword from the stone.
Arthur, played by Charlie Hunnam, asks "Where do you want me?" as he approaches the Excalibur.
Beckham answers: "Bouncing on me knee - where do ya think I want ya? Hands on the heel, stupid."
Many fans were less than complimentary about Beckam, with one branding it "the worst acting I've ever seen".
Craig Kent commented: "Just watched the Beckham clip in King Arthur. Literally had to cover my eyes was so cringe."
Ossie Ikeogu teased: "Not sure if Posh should dust off the Oscars dress just yet after seeing King Arthur trailer."
His acting talent was even compared to that of the stone at the centre of the film.
Piers Morgan called his performance "Oscar-level excellent", going on to say "he could be the third Mitchell brother!"
Others blamed director Guy Ritchie - a good friend of Beckham's - for casting his pal in the film in the first place, and putting him slap bang in the middle of the most pivotal scene of the movie.
Back in March, Beckham shared a photo of himself in full make-up on the set of the film.
In a close-up shot showing his gold-filled teeth and deep scar running across his head, he wrote: "Rough day at the office."
Beckham, who worked with an acting coach for the role, was praised by Hunnam for his dedication to the part in an earlier interview with Men's Health.
Hunnam said Beckham "took it really seriously... he could have just shown up, done the cameo, not really been that invested and just had a bit of a laugh."
Beckham previously made a very brief cameo as a Russian film projectionist in Ritchie's last film,The Man from UNCLE, in 2015.
But in that film he spoke just two words, "Apologies, comrade", and those were subtitled and spoken in Russian.
Beckham's wife Victoria also made a brief foray into acting, appearing on the silver screen as herself in Spice World: The Movie.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, which also stars Jude Law and Eric Bana comes, will be in UK cinemas on 19 May.
